Jennifer S. Maybee is a Consulting Attorney for Taylor & Patchen. Jennifer consults on a wide range of cases, with experience in disputes involving trade secrets and other intellectual property, breach of contract, fiduciary duties, consumer protection law, employment law, environmental law, elder abuse, family law, professional liability, real estate transactions, partnership and joint ventures, corporate governance, and securities law. Jennifer is also a certified mediator and has experience advising individuals and businesses on compliance, liability, and confidentiality issues as well as creating training programs on legal issues.

Jennifer graduated with Honors, summa cum laude from California State University Bakersfield with a B.A. in Music and a Chemistry minor. Jennifer received her law degree in 2005 from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, where she volunteered with the East Bay Workers’ Rights Clinic/Unemployment and Wage Claims Project, was Founder and President of the Creative Law Society and Executive Articles Editor for California Criminal Law Review, and received the Judge Edward “Dean” Price Memorial Scholarship and the Prosser Prize in Evidence Advocacy.

Previously an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges LLP (2005-2007), Jennifer worked on the Parmalat cases, involving international accounting fraud and the largest bankruptcy in European history, which resulted in a $150 million settlement against Deloitte & Touche's Italian arm.

She is a member of the California State Bar and admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In addition to her legal practice, Jennifer is a nationally-charting jazz recording and performing artist, a voting member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), and member and presenter for The Jazz Education Network.

Representative Matters

Intel v. Shum: Represented a Fortune 100 technology company and an inventor in litigation centering on claims of patent inventorship, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty in which the plaintiff sought $400 million in damages. Judgment as a matter of law granted in the trial court and affirmed by the Federal Circuit.

AMC Technology, LLC v. Cisco Systems, Inc., No. 11-3403-PSG (N.D. Cal.) (counsel for plaintiff in breach of contract dispute; matter satisfactorily resolved following multi-day pretrial conference and motion hearing).

Knowles Electronics, LLC v. Getz, et al., No. 2014-CH-001000 (Ill. 18th Jud. Cir.) (counsel for defendant in trade secret misappropriation matters; matter resolved to parties' satisfaction).

Wailea Partners, LP v. HSBC Bank USA, N.A., No. CGC-15-547955 (S.F. Sup.) (counsel for defendant in action seeking rescission of synthetic investment in Madoff feeder fund; case dismissed following filing of demurrer to complaint).

Maddie’s Fund – Provide advice on a wide variety of matters for foundation that has awarded more than $187.8 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine, education, and pet adoptions across the U.S.
