Stephen McG. Bundy is Of Counsel to Taylor & Patchen. His areas of practice include civil procedure, complex litigation, and legal ethics. He serves as General Counsel to the firm.

Stephen was for many years Professor of Law at the School of Law, University of California, Berkeley retiring in 2013. At Berkeley, his scholarship and teaching centered on civil procedure, alternative dispute resolution, and legal ethics. He was awarded the School’s Rutter Award for Teaching Distinction in 2011. He is currently Professor of Law, Emeritus. In that capacity, he has continued to teach courses in complex litigation at both Stanford and Berkeley. Stephen is a member of the State Bar of California standing Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct (COPRAC). He has lectured widely on issues of professional ethics, served dozens of times as an expert witness in legal ethics and malpractice matters, and frequently counsels law firms, nonprofits, and clients on professional ethics issues.

Stephen graduated from Harvard University in 1973. He received his law degree in 1978 from the School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. After graduation from law school, Stephen clerked for Judge John J. Gibbons of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and was associated with the New York law firm of Cravath Swaine & Moore, where he specialized in litigation.
